Researcher Sylvana Côté from CHU Sainte-Justine has been awarded a Canada Research Chair! This esteemed scientist now joins some of the most accomplished and promising researchers in the world. The announcement was made on March 13, 2024, by the Minister of Transport and Quebec lieutenant, the Honorable Pablo Rodriguez on behalf of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, the Honorable François-Philippe Champagne, and the Minister of Health, the Honorable Mark Holland.

This chair aims to evaluate a range of early childhood services to prevent and mitigate difficulties in adaptation and integration, thereby promoting efficient use of public resources. Using administrative data and longitudinal research, the Chair's work will both better identify children's needs and improve services offered to the population.

The researcher also received $150,000 in funding from the John R. Evans Leaders Fund for her project "The 'Born in Quebec' Cohort: Understanding the effectiveness of child services for the prevention of psychosocial and educational problems." This project aims to create a database that brings together 15 cohorts of children born between 2006 and 2020 to measure the impact of public services on vulnerable children in Quebec. Co-funding of $150,000 will be provided by the Government of Quebec.
