Discover SENSUM

With the full support of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Discovery, Creation, and Innovation, and the Vice-Rectorate for Student Affairs and Studies, the University of Montreal’s Neuroscience and Mental Health Strategy (SENSUM) was established as part of the "Reimagined Life" project of the University's Innovation Laboratory. SENSUM is a formal structure for coordination, collaboration, representation, and showcasing the University’s initiatives in the fields of neuroscience and mental health. It brings together six faculties, 16 departments, four schools, seven research centers, and 33 interdisciplinary research groups across the UdeM ecosystem.

The growing complexity of research in neuroscience and mental health requires more interdisciplinarity, cross-sectorality, and a more dynamic sharing of increasingly complex and expensive technological platforms. Moreover, technological advancements, progress in understanding the brain, and the removal of social barriers foster greater integration of the various components of neuroscience and mental health to ensure that research has a more significant impact and that training programs and the preparation of the next generation evolve.

SENSUM aims to support excellence and interdisciplinarity in research and training. It seeks to support innovative knowledge transfer activities for different audiences and promote the implementation of new solutions in research and practice, demonstrating a meaningful impact.

SENSUM acts as a strategic lever for the University of Montreal on the Canadian and international stage.
