Professor Yoshua Bengio is among the 100 most influential people in the world according to "Time" magazine, notably for his efforts in promoting responsible AI.

The prestigious American magazine Time has named Yoshua Bengio, professor at the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research at the University of Montreal, founder and scientific director of Mila – the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute – among the 100 most influential people in the world, a list it compiles annually.
"I am thrilled to be included in this ranking. In my view, it is a clear indication that my efforts to raise awareness over the past year are bearing fruit, and that the public, governments, and media are increasingly understanding the urgent need to regulate the development and deployment of cutting-edge artificial intelligence systems. This awareness-raising work is crucial, as these powerful systems are already having major impacts on our lives and societies, and this trend is likely to accelerate significantly in the coming years and decades," said the professor.
