PANEL | Abundant Intelligences at the Intersections of Neuroscience, AI, Art, and Indigenous Knowledges

The Abundant Intelligences research-creation program reimagines AI by integrating Indigenous Knowledge (IK) systems. It aims to enhance AI methodologies to better serve Indigenous communities and others, by developing culturally-grounded AI systems that support Indigenous ways of knowing and recognize diverse forms of intelligence. Co-directed by Professor Hēmi Whaanga (Massey University) and Professor Jason Edward Lewis (Concordia University), the program will be introduced in this session.

The panel includes members Dr. Melanie Cheung (Neuroscientist, Aotearoa), Professor Karim Jerbi (Canada Research Chair in Computational Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroimaging, Director at UNIQUE, Assoc. Professor at Mila), and Artist Professor Jackson Two Bears (Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Arts Research & Technology, Assoc. Professor at Western University). They will discuss the intersections of Neuroscience, AI, Art, and Indigenous Knowledges.
