We are delighted to congratulate Anne Crocker, our researcher of the month!

Recently appointed as the Canada Research Chair in Mental Health, Justice, and Security, her career is a testament to her exceptional commitment to the field of forensic psychiatry and mental health in general.

Dr. Crocker is a full professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Addictology at the Faculty of Medicine, as well as in the School of Criminology at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Montreal. She has also been the Director of Research and University Teaching since 2017 at the Institut national de psychiatrie légale Philippe-Pinel. Additionally, she became a member of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2023.

This Canada Research Chair in Mental Health, Justice, and Security provides extraordinary visibility to a field that is often covered in the media but little recognized in academic research. The work conducted by Anne Crocker lies at the intersection of mental health, justice, and public safety. It addresses crucial aspects such as criminal responsibility, the prevention of violence among people living with mental health issues, family support, the integration of loved ones into forensic psychiatric services, and the organization of care and services in this field.

Anne Crocker is dedicated to ambitious programs aimed at reducing the risks of re-incarceration, improving public safety while promoting the recovery of individuals. She works to establish partnerships and bring together groups that have not always had the opportunity to collaborate in the field of forensic mental health. Her goal is to transform existing systems by using this chair as a springboard to think big and innovate.

Congratulations to Anne Crocker for this well-deserved recognition!
