We warmly congratulate Guillaume Dumas, our researcher of the month !

Recently named by The Peak newspaper among the young leaders who will shape health in Canada in 2024, Guillaume Dumas is involved in numerous interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of medicine and societal issues. He promotes open science, develops artificial intelligence strategies, and advocates for cognitive liberty.

Guillaume Dumas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction and leads the Precision Psychiatry and Social Physiology Laboratory (PPSP) at the Azrieli Research Centre of CHU Sainte-Justine. He is also a member of Mila – Quebec AI Institute, and holds the IVADO Chair in AI and Mental Health.

Dr. Dumas has been recognized as a future Canadian leader in brain research by the Brain Canada Foundation and as a member of the CIFAR-Azrieli Global Scholars 2023-2025 in the "Brain, Mind and Consciousness" program.

Guillaume Dumas' research focuses on the neural bases of human social cognition, integrating biological, psychological, and social aspects. He uses hyperscanning techniques to simultaneously measure the brain activity of multiple individuals in interaction, allowing the understanding of brain synchronization during social interactions. He also develops AI-based neuromodulation techniques for more personalized treatments of neuropsychiatric disorders.
