ERC Synergy Grants

ERC Synergy Grants support a small group of two to four Principal Investigators (PIs) (and their teams) to jointly tackle ambitious research problems that could not be addressed individually.

Synergy projects should allow for substantial advances at the frontiers of knowledge, stemming from, for instance, interdisciplinary scientific fields, new and productive research paths, or new methods and techniques, including unconventional approaches and research at the intersection of established disciplines.

The transformative research funded by Synergy Grants is expected to set a global standard.

Please note that this grant application must be completed in English.

Themes: Interdisciplinarity, substantial advances.

Funding and Duration: Up to €10 million, with an additional €4 million to cover startup costs within Europe, for a maximum of 6 years.
