Brain Canada is pleased to announce the 2024 Future Leaders in Canadian Brain Research program, aimed at advancing transformative research that enhances our understanding of nervous system function and dysfunction, with a goal to reduce the social and economic impact of neurological and mental illnesses through prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment.
The 2024 competition will support up to 20 early-career researchers (within seven years of starting their first independent research position) with grants of $100,000 over two years.
*New for 2024: Eligibility has been extended, in line with federal granting agencies, to account for research delays due to COVID-19. Refer to the Request for Applications for details.
Research shows that equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in research environments drive excellence, innovation, and creativity. Brain Canada is committed to equity and welcomes applications from diverse backgrounds to ensure a variety of perspectives and experiences, including those from underrepresented groups, are represented.
This program is made possible by the Canada Brain Research Fund (CBRF), an innovative partnership between the Government of Canada (via Health Canada) and the Brain Canada Foundation, to enhance brain research for Canadians and maximize the impact of these investments. The Fund supports leading neuroscience research in Canada, fostering collaboration and accelerating discovery to improve the lives of those affected by brain disorders.
