
Dr. Hélène Girouard, a full professor at the Université de Montréal's Department of Pharmacology and Physiology, was honored with the Recognition Award from the Société Québécoise d'Hypertension Artérielle (SQHA) in 2024. This accolade acknowledges her significant contributions to the field of hypertension research.
In 2022, Dr. Girouard received the Merit Researcher Scholarship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS), highlighting her ongoing dedication to advancing health sciences.
Her earlier recognitions include the Jacques de Champlain FRSQ-SQHA Excellence Award in 2016 and being elected as a Fellow of the American Heart Association in 2015, reflecting her leadership and scientific achievements in cardiovascular research.
Dr. Girouard leads the Laboratory of Cerebrovascular Pharmacology at the Université de Montréal, focusing on understanding how cardiovascular conditions and aging affect cerebral circulation and brain function. Her research aims to develop therapeutic strategies to prevent vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
