Congratulations to our researcher of the month of January- Dr. Isabelle Ouellet-Morin

Dr. Isabelle Ouellet-Morin is a professor at the School of Criminology at the University of Montreal and holds the Canada Research Chair in Developmental Origins of Vulnerability and Resilience. She is also a member of the College of New Scholars of the Royal Society of Canada.

Her research focuses on the psychological and physiological mechanisms of stress in children, adolescents, and young adults, particularly in the context of victimization, such as maltreatment and peer bullying. She investigates how these adverse experiences affect mental health and behavior, aiming to understand why some individuals are more vulnerable while others demonstrate resilience.

A notable achievement of Dr. Ouellet-Morin is the development of the mobile application “+Fort” (Stronger), designed to supportyoung victims of bullying by providing them with information and guidance to choose and try strategies to reduce such experiences. In fall 2024, she also launched “+Fort Ensemble,” an online training program (available on Studium FC) aimed at helping school staff identify and intervene in bullying situations.

Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her contributions to research, including receiving the Beccaria Award from the Quebec Society of Criminology for her fundamental and applied research.

Dr. Ouellet-Morin continues to advance the understanding of vulnerabilities and resilience related to stress, making significant contributions to the fields of developmental psychopathology, criminology, and digital mental health.
