Call for Brain Research Projects – A Funding Opportunity from Brain Canada and CQDM

Brain Canada Foundation and CQDM have announced a collaborative funding opportunity to advance biopharmaceutical research and development targeting brain disorders. This initiative aims to unite academic and industry experts to develop innovative platforms, tools, and therapeutics for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological conditions.
Key Objectives:
- Foster Interprovincial Collaboration:Encourage partnerships between Quebec-based universities and life sciences companies with counterparts across other Canadian provinces and territories.
- Promote Technological Advancement: Support projects that drive technological maturation and industrial value, yielding economic benefits for stakeholders in Quebec and throughout Canada.
- Facilitate Knowledge Transfer: Accelerate the adoption of new technologies and capabilities developed in public institutions by the industry.
Funding Details:

- Total Available: Up to $2 million.
- Project Budget Range: $500,000 to $2 million.
- Project Duration: 1 to 3 years.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Principal Investigator: Must be affiliated with a Quebec-based research institution and collaborate with at least one independent researcher from another Canadian province or territory, as well as a Quebec small or medium-sized enterprise (SME).
- Research Focus: Projects should have a biopharmaceutical industrial impact applicable to neuroscience, including clinical studies.
- Team Composition: At least two trainees (Master’s, PhD students, or postdoctoral fellows) must be involved in the project.
Application Timeline:
- Intent to Apply Notification: By 5:00 PM ET, May 21, 2025.
- Full Application Deadline: By 5:00 PM ET, May 28, 2025.
- Funding Start Date: January 1, 2026, at the earliest.
