Department of Pharmacology and Physiology
University of Montreal
Jonathan Brouillette is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal.
His research focuses on studying the mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, particularly in Alzheimer's disease and associated neurocognitive disorders. To this end, his laboratory uses animal models and cell cultures, as well as a multidisciplinary approach combining molecular and cellular biology, behavioral tests, and recordings through electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG).
Among his notable contributions, Dr. Brouillette has studied the role of amyloid and tau proteins in synaptopathy and neuronal loss, as well as the mechanisms of neuroinflammation. He is also interested in neuroprotection strategies and potential therapeutic interventions to slow down or halt the progression of these devastating diseases.
