University of Montreal

Gregory Anton Lodygensky is an associate professor in clinic for the University of Montreal’s Department of Pediatrics. He is also a clinician researcher at the CHU Sainte-Justine and the director of the Canadian Neonatal Brain Platform. He codirects with Professor Patricia Conrod the IMAGINE Centre of the CHU Sainte-Justine.

Dr. Lodygensky is interested in the neurological trajectory of newborns at risk of cerebral injuries by trying to find ameliorations to cerebral monitoring in the acute phase by identifying neuronal perturbation and by introducing neuroprotector strategies during the neonatal period. In his fundamental research laboratory, its activities consist of quantify lesion load and to evaluate the effectiveness of neuroprotectant therapies by using multimodal MRI and new optical technics in rodents in correlation with histological, biochemical, and behavioural studies. Additionally, with the help of the Canadian Neonatal Brain Platform put in place in September 2015, Dr. Lodygensky wants to potentially increase Canadian research in neonatal neuroimaging by putting in common the expertise of more than 30 collaborators.
