Guillaume Lajoie is an assistant professor for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Montreal and is also an academic member of Mila. He is also a research scholar for FRQS and is chairholder for the calculation of neuronal interface.

His research is centred around the intersection of AI and neuroscience where he interests himself in the interactions and the common points of biological and artificial neuronal calculations. He develops tools to understand the neuron network better as well as algorithms for the brain-machine interface for scientific and clinical use. The optimisation of neurostimulation for clinical applications could contribute to accelerate the recuperation of damaged neuron circuits after an injury or a stroke and to promote neuromodulation to treat chronic illnesses.

He uses tools that are based in dynamic systems, information theory, statistics and automatic learning to solve a series of problems in collaboration with experimental neuroscientists and researchers in AI.
